How do I upload a photo?
Some activities will require you to upload images (jpegs, gifs, etc.), audio (mp3’s) or video (wmv’s) files from your computer. These activities will have a “Browse” button to click on that will allow you to easily insert files to upload for activity submissions. Use the “Browse” button to navigate to where your saved file is stored. We suggest saving files to your desktop for easy access and then delete/remove the file from your desktop after you’ve made your submission.
In addition to submitting videos and music for activities, you can help spread the word by posting on other websites. Doing this can also be prudent or beneficial because hosting your work elsewhere may allow you to submit files exceeding our site’s size limitations. Just upload your work somewhere on the Internet and provide us with a link to where your work is being hosted.
Please note: Nestlé is not affiliated with any of the sites listed below.
Easy and recommended places to upload audio and/or video include free sites like Putfile.com (http://www.putfile.com/) and OurMedia.org (http://ourmedia.org/).
Other Sites that you can upload to include:
http://photobucket.com/ (If you Have a Hotmail account then you may not be able to sign up for this.)
http://www.yousendit.com/ (You are able to upload up to 1GB of data and host it for others to download, but they only host your download for a week or around 15 downloads.)
http://www.ripway.com/ (A nice place for small files, but free accounts only have a certain amount of bandwidth each day, so it’s best for small uploads that you will send to a small amount of people)
http://www.imageshack.us/index.php (An image hosting site that you don’t have to join; just upload your picture and they will host it for you.)
There are also free programs that will allow you to create audio/video files to participate in certain activities. Some popular programs include:
Freecorder (http://www.replay-video.com/freecorder/index.php) -- A free and easy program that allows you to record sounds on your PC and even save recordings as mp3 files.
Windows Movie Maker (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/updates/moviemaker2.mspx) -- A simple way of making movies, which is probably already installed on your computer. This program allows you to create, edit and share home movies or just add music or sound to existing movies.
What is the maximum files size?
Some activities may require you to shrink the file size down before uploading. For photos and screen shots you might have to use a program like Photoshop, Image Ready or Paint to decrease the size of the image. Most programs allow you to save in compressed formats that decrease the size of your file. If you need help, email the team leader using the
Contact Us page.
